Bermuda Triangle

Urban legend has it that this region - bordered by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico - is a hungry vortex that sucks aircrafts and vessels into the depths of its watery, voracious belly. "Triangle writers" have attributed the mysterious disappearances of ships and planes to everything from paranormal activity, magnetic interference, and extraterrestrials. The most famous incident to launch the mythos of the "Devil's Triangle," was the disappearance of Flight 19 on Dec. 5, 1945, when a squadron of five U.S. Navy bombers went missing over the Atlantic during a routine training flight.

Prior to disappearing, the flight leader is widely reported to have said, "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, not white." But subsequent research into mysterious disappearances have concluded that fables of an alternate universe in this corridor were fabricated by sensationalist writers who embellished the truth, or by those who didn't bother to fact check. Still, any wreckage from Flight 19 has yet to be found.
